Christmas in the Redwoods

Sharon Haseman invited the Haseman Clan up for "Christmas in the Redwoods" at the YMCA camp where she works.  It was for the staff's friends and families.  It was a day filled with activities and a delicious lunch.  Heather and the girls stayed home, so it was Vivian and the boys.

Activity station #1: Gingerbread Cookie decorating!  The cookies the boys made were a disaster except for Vivian's, which was perfect!  So good that we had to document it.  In the end it didn't matter because we ate them all up!

Activity Station #2: Christmas wreath ornaments.  Despite the frigid temperatures (relative to our usual 65 at home), the kids were able to slide little buttons onto pipe cleaners, even Shane!

Station #3 Archery: The kids were able to get the arrows on a target a couple times, not bad!

I'm not gonna lie, I might have been afraid for my life a couple times!

We can't let the kids have all the fun, right?!

Move over chainsaw mama, we've got Pocahontas now!

Everyone smile!  You know, where the corners of your mouth curl up?  No?  Oh, wait...we've got one smiler, *CLICK*

"And what would you like for Christmas, little man?" said the Asian Santa.  Zayvion didn't respond, Shane wanted a "Monsta Tuck" and Mylique wanted a slot car race track (which is what was written on the Christmas gift list that he read two weeks prior).  Good times.

Here's the crew!  All bundled up like it's 50 below out...too bad it was like 40.  New York is going to be quite the come winter time later this year, me included!  Did I mention it was 75 today?  In the middle of January!  If it sounds like I'm complaining, I'm not!

Activity #4:  Zip line!  Zayvion was pumped, then heput the harness on and he was excited, but very quiet.  Then they called him up and his eyeballs were the size of dinner plates and I thought for sure he wasn't going to follow through, but I was wrong!  He did it!  He refused to smile while riding, but after he got down he was a big ball of energy!

Shane was ecstatic when he saw the zipline. He was quite certain he was doing it. I was told that they've never had someone Shane's size on the zipline before.  So of course we just made it work!  He was quite possibly the happiest kid on earth after we got him down!

Mylique too talked a lot of game, but got very quiet climbing the tower to start his ride and then refused to smile during his ride.  All the boys enjoyed themselves in the long run; so it was good to be able to visit with Sharon and have fun at the same time.  Thanks, Sharon for inviting us!!
